Interview with Featured Artist Jerry Blackman

recently featured in the KiptonART exhibition Spring Has Sprung

At what age did you know you were an artist? What was the first work of art you created?
Ever since my early childhood I was drawing. My parents encouraged me from an early age, and I studied art throughout my education career. The first piece I remember creating was a sort of comic book called "Mr. Man". I must have been about six. He wore a fedora and was very tough: deep stuff. I suppose I had my first "AH-HA!" moment in high school. I would literally set up a studio with colored pencils and pens in all my classes and draw non-stop through the 8-period day. Read more...
