Expressway to your Skull at LU MAGNUS

LU MAGNUS Art Laboratory and Salon celebrate the opening of their inaugural exhibition by French painter Agathe de Bailliencourt. Expressway to your Skull runs from November 6 through December 18.
Expressway to your Skull is a quote from Sonic Youth - an allegory for a straight and material approach to imagery, directness and spontaneity.

Damien-Hirst MEDICINE CABINETS

"I can't understand why most people believe in medicine and don't believe in art, without questioning either." -Damien Hirst, 1997

L&M Arts presents an exhibition of early medicine cabinets by Damien Hirst. Assembled together for the first time are the seminal Sex Pistols cabinets from 1989. Each cabinet takes its name from one of the twelve title tracks of the legendary 1977 debut punk album "Never Mind the Bullocks, Here's the Sex Pistols".
Opening yesterday, October 28th, the exhibition will be up through December 11th, 2010. L&M Gallery is located at 45 East 78th Street, between Madison and Park Avenues.

RACHEL SOUSA has called New York City her home since 1993. KiptonART Rising 2011 Finalist Chrissy Lloyd at Andrew Martin Showroom

CHRISSY LLOYD studied oil painting at Parsons School of Art and Design. She worked as a fashion editor for five years and shortly after leaving behind her editor job, she began studying lithography under Arnold Brooks at the Manhattan Graphics Center. Lloyd embraced her new found love of print-making and has recently had two solo shows in 2010.

YSABEL LEMAY was born in Quebec, where she studied Graphic Design at the College of Sainte-Foy and in 1987 began a career, working for several prominent advertising agencies before opening and operating her firm in Vancouver. Lacking fulfillment, Lemay transitioned into the Fine Arts, leaving behind the corporate world of advertising in 2002, at which point she moves back to Quebec to devote herself full-time to the fine arts. Take an afternoon next week to visit Lemay's work at the Andrew Martin Showroom in the D and D Building, New York. WILLIAM T HILLMAN was born in the United States in 1954. Trained as a painter and academic, Hillman studied landscape painting ant the Lacoste School of the Arts in France and portraiture and anatomy at the Art Students League in New York City. He received his MA from Princeton and and MBA from Columbia University. He has experimented throughout his career, moving from painting to montage to computer-digitized photographic images.

STEPHAN FOWLKES graduated from Bennington College in 1993 and later studied at Columbia University's Teachers College. Fowlkes has had solo and group shows in the United States, France, Germany, United Kingdom and Japan. His sculptures have been reviewed by Sculpture Magazine, NY Arts Magazine and the Village Voice.

Lee Friedlander: America By Car

September 4 through November 28 America By Car is on exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art.

- The New YorkerDriving across most of the fifty states in a rental car, Lee Friedlander applied the simple conceit of deploying the side view mirror, rear view mirror, the windshield, and the side windows as picture frames within which to record reflections of this country's eccentricities and obsessions at the beginning of the twenty-first century.

Apart from art classes in primary and secondary school, JOSEPH CONRAD-FERM is a self taught painter.
