Weekend Art Picks, New York

Shadow Fux at The Swiss Institute
New York Artist Rita Ackermann and Nashville director Harmony Korine collaborate in this exhibition of paintings, drawings, and two films. The process of putting together the pieces was a series of editing and spicing from Ackermann and Korine's respective mediums. Using stills from film, the artists drew, painted and created collages over the faces in the photographs. The results are works that highlight an "unorthodox mischievous beauty." These images celebrate the eccentric, panicked and hedonistic characters that are subjects of their artwork.

Shadow Fux runs through January 23rd, 2011. The Swiss Institute is located at 495 Broadway, 3rd Floor (between Spring and Broome), New York.
