Weekend Art Picks, New York

Robert Irwin: Way Out West at the Pace Gallery
Robert Irwin displays an installation of new fluorescent light tube sculptures from 2010. These structures, wrapped  in as many as 10 color gels play on light, texture, and color to effect the mood of their surrounding rooms. By altering the state of these tubes, Irwin can dramatically change the atmosphere and compositions of their environments. These large (some as big as six-feet tall and twenty-seven light fixtures wide) sculptures explore the perceptual qualities of light. This exhibition will be on view in the gallery at 32 East 57th Street from November 12, 2010 through January 29, 2011. For more Weekend Art Picks, visit the KiptonART Magazine.
