Opening Today: American Museum of Natural History, "Race to the End of the Earth"
Race to the End of the Earth is an exhibition exploring the contest that took place in 1911-1912 to be the first country to reach the South Pole. Two leaders, the Norwegian, Roald Amundsen and the British, Captain Robert Falcon Scott faced unimaginable challenges as they raced to the center of the South Pole and back. One team would arrive first and only one would make it back. The exhibition explores historic artifacts while also spotting modern technologies used in the Antartic and its potential future.
