Preview of the Whitney Biennial

The procession of art patrons snaking around the block Tuesday night announced the official opening of the 75th Whitney Biennial. The typically tedious lines for admission, coat check, and cocktails were transformed into a lively art world reunion as curators Francesco Bonami and Gary Carrion-Murayari greeted the likes of Thelma Golden, Lisa PhillipsDon and Mera Rubell, Terry Richardson, and Shamim Momin. Meanwhile, the Whitney's ever-present celebrity supporters including Tommy and Ally Hilfiger, Chloe Sevigny, LeeLee Sobieski and Rosario Dawson, were ushered in through the side entrance to an equally warm welcome from Museum Director Adam Weinberg.
