Movie Review: Tom Ford's "A Single Man" starring Colin Firth and Julianne Moore

Tom Ford's directorial debut is a Ms. Dalloway story for the Mr.'s. Situated as one day in the life of George Falconer (Colin Firth); A Single Man depicts the romantic melancholy of an English Professor mourning the loss of his longtime partner Jim (Matthew Goode). Julianne Moore wakes to transform as the wrinkled washed out neighbor, who by supper channels an Ann-Margret beauty and Falconer's confidant. Like Ms. Dalloway, suicide is not only respected but also treated as an understandable solution to fear and isolation.
