School of Visual Arts (SVA) Creating Annual Award for Female Photographers

This week, Kipton Cronkite sat down with Stephen Frailey, Chair of the Photography Department at New York's School of Visual Arts (SVA) and Editor-in-Chief for Dear Dave Magazine. Mr. Frailey explained how SVA has created an online auction honoring Tracey Baran, a young SVA photographer who died last year. At only 33, Baran had been compared to Nan Goldin and Ryan McGinley and reputation soared before her death. Baran had six solo shows, including a major exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago in 2002. The proceeds of the online auction will create an award which SVA will give to a young female photographer from the U.S. each year. To view the photograph by Tracey Baran and bid in the online auction, there are only 11 days left so hurry before it's too late. Read more here...
