Experience Sebrina Fassbender's first show at the Higher Pictures gallery, New York, NY. This showcase is the result of a five-year exploration of transient women in New York City. We learned from her friends, that she was no casual acquaintance of the subjects. Sebrina immersed herself into their chaotic and highly sexualized space, at times, risking her life. This grew into the special intimacy showcased in her work. The featured 12 portraits are seemingly pulling themselves together to the center of the wall. In all of the images, there are strategically placed clues to help expand on each portrait's narrative. Several portraits hint at Guy Bourdin, who was one of Fassbender's inspirations for this series.
Exhibition will run from May 14th through June 20th, 2009 at the Higher Pictures Gallery.
