Conner Contemporary Art held the opening reception last night for the renowned Scottish artist, Kenny Hunter. In his third solo exhibition with the gallery, the title sculpture piece, 'Like Water in Water', showcases a young stag delicately stepping through a discarded tire, as it crosses an imaginary pool of water. It is Hunter's signature style to reveal how nature adapts to human encroachment. From his own words, "I derive inspiration from the past, the subject matter I use draws upon contemporary popular, culture- its morals, politics and belief systems". Along with his sculptures, many of his screen prints are also featured.
'Like Water in Water' will be on view at Conner Contemporary Art May 30th-July 25, 2009.
