I.M. Pei Surprise Appearance at Soiree au Louvre

On Wednesday night, the Young Patrons Circle of the American Friends of the Louvre held Soiree au Louvre 2009. The event was held in the beautiful penthouse in the new Centurion building on 56th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. I. M. Pei's architectural contributions to the modern Louvre, are a perfect example of this trans-Atlantic exchange between France and the U.S. The Centurion, where the event was held, is Pei's sole residential building in New York. In fact, the same marble that was used at the Louvre was imported for the building’s grand lobby.

A few of the guests included art philanthropists and enthusiasts such as Jamie Johnson, Maggie Rizer, Lisa Anastos, Allison and Jay Aston, Tatiana and Thorne Perkin, Bettina and Jamie Prentice, Paige and Tripp Hardy, Elle's Eric Johnson, Vogue's Genevieve Bahrenburg, Forbes' Jill Heisler, Isabelle Forbes, Charlotte Escaravage and Co-Chairs of the night: Olivia Chantecaille, Kipton Cronkite, Catherine Forbes and Peter Fitzpatrick. The superstar of the night was I.M. Pei himself who was in good form and joked with the Young Patrons about how important it was to see young people supporting the Louvre. The crowd was also given a private performance by multi-platinum recording artist, AYO, who is huge presence abroad.

Kipton Cronkite Approved!
